Asbestos Awareness Training

It would seem that the majority of people believe that asbestos is a material used to sheet shed or warehouse roofs. Few are aware of the diversity of uses that were once common for asbestos. This is not a problem for most but for those who have to deal with the risks of such materials it is essential that they have a good awareness.

The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 places an obligation on all employers to ensure that all any of their employees that come into contact with asbestos within the workplace must have had asbestos awareness training. This can be anyone from the office manager down to the cleaner .

Our Asbestos Awareness Training (AAT) takes the form of a 90-minute lecture and Q&A that will most commonly be held on your site and covers the following mandatory topics;

  • Properties of asbestos
  • Products that contain asbestos
  • Prevention of asbestos exposure
  • Safe work practices
  • Respiratory Protective Equipment
  • Emergency procedures
  • Decontamination procedures
  • Waste handling
  • Medical examination
  • Hygiene requirements
  • Control limits and air monitoring

We recommend group sizes of no more than 20 people but are happy to be flexible. The lecturer(s) are actively working in the asbestos industry and have experience of training procedures.

AAT  is charged by the session and can be booked by contacting our head office.
